During this professional development, I was able to see the steps to writing and readers workshop. I
was also able to have some professional development on conferring with students. I feel more
comfortable being able to find the students strengths and weakness during a conference. I feel that I
am able to implement the share part of reader's and writer's workshop. Overall I had a great experience.
Thank you for the opportunity!

our growing life skills population of students.

Title: Kansas City Social Studies Consortium
Date: December 6, 2017
Who: Nicollette Thompson and Leslie Dealy  (GVHS)
Dr. Swan administered quite possibly the most effective professional development conference I have
attended. She explained and we created an Inquiry Design Model Blueprint over material that we could
immediately implement into our classroom. She was helpful in guiding us through the process. There are
ideas from the conference that I have already implemented with success. It directly ties in with the
Social Studies C3 Framework, and we were able to align it to Standards Based Grading. Even though it
was a content based conference, it is something that I think most teachers would benefit from.
